Memories of Poland I. – Wroclaw
This article is not intended to be a provocation at a time when we are all sitting at home. On the contrary.
These days we were supposed to walk the streets of Rome, taste Italian specialties, admire the Vatican museums and enjoy our most beloved country. But everything has completely changed and instead we are at home like all of Slovakia.
I know, only the first weeks have passed so far, but we perceive this period positively and even quite enjoy it. We are more grateful for what we have and for our health, we begin to understand the older generation more, why they put things off, that they will come together one day, we enjoy ourselves more, we exercise more, we throw away much less, we have a closer relationship to the garden and to cultivation, we think more ahead, we talk more and argue less… In addition to all this, we are even more aware of the value of freedom of travel and that it is not at all a matter of course.
Well, another positive of this time is that I finally got around to selecting photos from last year’s trips. We can’t travel, but when it’s all over and the world is safe again, maybe it will inspire you.
I started with memories from a summer trip in Poland. I am breaking this trip down according to the places we visited, and the first of them is the city of Wrocław. I have already written more about this city for the newspaper Postoj in this article. In it you will learn something about the history of the city, why it seems more German than Polish and my tips on what to see and experience. Since the article on Postojna did not fit many photos, I am adding them here.
Wrocław is a beautiful city, ideal for a long weekend. It has a rich history, beautiful architecture, is not expensive and is not full of tourists at all. In addition to a walk on the Cathedral Island, sitting by the river, a romantic dinner in the Old Town, I also recommend visiting the oldest ZOO in Poland with a wonderful African zoo.
Did you know that Wrocław is even among the world’s 100 best places to live? And in my opinion, it is the capital of electric scooters, on which Poles enthusiastically ride everywhere :).
So be it, our virtual walk around Wroclaw is just starting. 🙂
